I was handing in my application for the Sears portrait studio when I witnessed the following exchange.

P: Photographer
W: Woman who was there before me

We had been waiting for a while while the photographer finished with a couple and their kid. They finally came out of the back and the photographer started talking to us before she was finished with the couple.

P: Hi. How can I help you?
W: I need pass-
P: You're going to have to sit down.
W: But, you don't even know what I want.
P: Passport photos. I can't take your picture right now.
W: Actually, it's not for a passport.
P: Well, just sit down so I can finish this.

The photographer then told us it would be about 5 minutes until she was done with the couple. Then, when she was finished, she dealt with me first, even though the other woman had clearly been there before me. Now, I don't care how busy you are, you never interrupt a customer. All the photographer had to say was "I'll be with you in a moment if you'd like to take a seat while I finished this up." If she wasn't going to help, she shouldn't have asked what she could do to help.
