So last week I started having symptoms of a UTI. I make an appointment and end up dealing with the PA that I've seen for the same issue 3 other times...this year.
PA says yep, you have a UTI, here's some antibiotics. We'll call you with your culture results.
3 1/2 days go by. I'm no better. I call the doctor and the nurse for the PA says nope, you DONT have a UTI, come in so we can test you for an STD...that I know I don't have.
That would be all fine and dandy if my only symptom wasnt peeing every 20 minutes.
I manage to get an appointment with my actual doctor today. He says, hey, this isn't right. Your test results DO say you have a UTI. He gives me a stronger antibiotic (that I should have been on in the first place, she prescribed something too weak..I didn't know, it was in my file) and set me up for a referral for an ultrasound of my kidneys and bladder, and a referral to a urologist...and he said the PA should have ordered those last week after having 4 of these in 8 months.
I mentioned the STD thing..he was like does it burn or hurt when you pee? Smell? Discharge? No to all 3....he looked at the symptoms from Friday...I didn't complain about any of that...he couldn't understand why she'd even suggest that. He wasn't happy.
TL;dr: saw a PA for problems, she was wrong...yay Doctor for fixing me.
