I went next door to the grocery store to get a couple of things Target doesn't sell. I went back to my car and opened the box of candy canes. They were as good as I remembered, and since there were only a couple of boxes on the shelf (meaning there wouldn't be any if I came back next week), I went back to Target and got another box.
As it was near closing, the only cashier open was the one who checked me out maybe 10-15 minutes earlier, and she recognized me. Our conversation went like this:
Her: What are you going to do with those?
Me: ...eat them?
Her: Oh really? (can't convey her tone here, but she was a jerk about it)
Me: I'm not going to eat them all at once
Her: You're going to need to go to the dentist for that
Me: I didn't have any before Christmas--
Her: Well, it's not like you need them (she gave me this really disapproving look). Have a good night (kind of insincerely)
And then she handed me my receipt and I left.
Like I said, they were almost closing, and I didn't get her name. I've read worse stories on here, but it just annoyed me because it shouldn't be any of her business what I'm buying or why.
