After my most recent experience, however, I'm not happy at all.
I usually go by myself or with my spouse, but in this case we were a small group.
My spouse, our adult daughter and her partner, and a couple who are our friends arrived on a moderately busy afternoon; were taken to a table with empty tables around it -- no-one seated there yet, notice that -- got our food and began the meal.
Soon after, a family with two toddlers and a slightly older child -- perhaps kindergarten age -- were seated behind my daughter, fully in my line of sight, and the middle child proceeded to physically assault my daughter. Struck her on the back of the head and pulled her hair -- and this was not accidental. The child STOOD UP IN HER CHAIR AND TURNED AROUND TO DO THIS.
After calling this to the attention of the parents and being told to mind our own business, then switching seats with my daughter whereupon the assault continued I got the manager and requested to have the other family moved as we had been seated first. The manager said "It's a family restaurant; if you don't like it you can go elsewhere." Which is what we did, PDQ.
HOW is it to be expected that assault would be sanctioned at a "family restaurant"?
Actually thought for a few seconds about calling the cops or DFS, but it would have been a case of "he said/she said/ why are they lying about my little angel?"
