Now, I'm about ten lbs underweight because my stomach doesn't digest food very well (slow moving stomach + constant nausea). I also have a hiatal hernia, which is adding to the problem. I have to be careful of what I eat, and how much. Even liquids can be an issue for me.
After taking my order, the waitress said this to me: "a fruit bowl? why do you want that? why don't you get a hamburger? You need to put some meat on your bones!"
Then, she laughed, like it was no big deal.
I get that she was saying it in a joking manner, but I don't appreciate it. It's been very rough for me, mentally and physically. And I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think weight comments are appropriate in any form, unless it's coming from a treating physician/health professional.
