I walk in, go get a soda, and wait at the counter to be helped. There were two people just standing behind the counter, talking. I kind of made a coughing sound because they didn't make any point to notice I was there. Honestly, a minute passes. I'm still standing there. I was in a hurry, trying to get to class.
Me: I'm ready to check out
Cashier: *glares at me, keeps talking to co-worker*
Me: I'll take a pack of marlboro reds with this
Cashier: *glares again* Ok? *still stands there talking to the other worker for 30 seconds, and finally gets my cigarettes* That it?
Me: No, I'd like this soda too
Me: Excuse me?
Cashier: I. Want. To. See. Your. I. D.
Other cashier: *laughs*
Me: *hands over the ID* How is your day going?
Cashier: That'll be *insert amount*
Me: *hands over money* You have a really nice day.
And as I'm walking out of the store, I can hear them both calling me a bitch... because they were talking, and I interrupted them.
Excuse me, but if I come in, and all I want is a pack of cigarettes and a coke, just sell it to me! Don't stand there talking, ignoring me, and try to make me feel stupid. It's your job to sell me what I want. Why do people do that kind of stuff? Ignore customers and then call them a bitch just because they interrupted your conversation? And they were talking about something like... movies. It wasn't important.
I just can't understand why people do this. I was a cashier and I NEVER ignored my customers. I went out of my way to be nice to them, even if they were really rude to me last time they came in. So why is it so difficult to just sell me a coke every once in a while??
