Very minor, but still a bit of a pet peeve

Why do cashiers always assume I want to eat candy bars right now and must have it in my immediate possession? Once in a while I'll buy a candy bar for me and the rest of my family. I buy 4 of them at a time. Without even bothering to ask, they just put all of those candy bars on the little shelf by the card reader instead of in the bags with the rest of my groceries. I'm clearly shopping by myself. I know I'm fat, but come on... I don't think I could plow through all of those in one sitting. :)

I know it's really minor, and I just put them in a bag myself, but I wish they would at least ask if I want it in a bag. It probably wouldn't bother me if it didn't happen every single time.
