I called my doctor today to ask about a phone-in prescription (or a visit if that's necessary) since I've caught whatever's going around and am still coughing and sniffling and over-the-counter medicines are not helping. I left a message on her secretary's answering machine.

I never got a call-back.

How did we fall so far from actually being able to get the doctor to come see us when we're sick all the way to such shoddy service that they can't even do a simple phone-in for someone who's sick but nevertheless provided all the info that would be needed, so there would be no excuse like "You didn't tell us enough"?

It's insane, I tell you. Insane.
