We're standing in line with our few measly items, maybe five things altogether, and there's one person ahead of us in line. The cashier is scanning the other person's things in, and half the belt is clear, so I reach over and grab a divider from the rack and start to set it down. The cashier reaches over, snatches it out of my hand, and sets it back down on the rack without even acknowledging me. I'm not being overdramatic when I say "snatches", either-- She yanked it pretty hard! She immediately went back to scanning like nothing had happened, while my friend and I stood there holding our food, completely stunned. When it was our turn, she scanned us through briskly and said nothing more than "Hi" and "Here's your change". Just.... huh?
I wish a little bit that I was more vocal and had said something, but honestly, it was just so weird that all my friend and I could do was stare at each other. When we were leaving I looked at him and was like "So...." and he just shook his head and laughed. It's hard to explain if you haven't been there, but that's honestly just sort of how the whole store is-- Very "Twilight Zone". Oh well. I'll rack it up to "spacey college girl just had a lot on her mind or something", and stick to the place where I know everyone instead.
