The Desoto, Tybee Island

My boyfriend took me to the beach on Thursday to ask me to marry him. We were staying in the hotel where we always stay- it's the only beach front hotel on the island.

Saturday morning we woke up at nine to pack and clean the hotel room. Aside from the bed not being made the room didn't look any differently than it did when we checked in, so I was really confused when an employee from the hotel called my phone later that day and actually yelled at me. She asked me "what the hell happened" in the hotel room and called me disgusting. I handed the phone to my finace and I could hear her screaming at him. She refused to give him her manager's information. He hung up. I waited a few minutes and called the number back. She told me her name and then offered to give me her manager's number. I told her that I'd like to come and see the condition of the room for myself. She told me that if we came back onto the property she would call the police.

We kept driving back home but I have not let myself stop worrying. I offered the possibly that someone had broken into the room. They were totally booked when we left as there was some sort of local annual festival going on. She just yelled some more and told me that was a stupid suggestion. I'm worried because she has my credit card information.

I told my mom the story and she just wants to pay the damages. I don't because we made a point to clean the room and the way that woman spoke to us on the phone is not okay! I have been really shaken up since then. I wish I could remember more of the exact things she said but she was screaming and I started to freak out a little. I don't know how to respond to things like that but I wish I did.

My mom finally agreed that she would hire a lawyer for me. I want to call a few places tomorrow and make an appointment with someone. I know that they will ask me what it is regarding right away and I don't know what to say. I also don't know if I even have any kind of case. I feel like we've been victimized and I hate hate hate that I don't know how to handle these situations better.

This counts as bad service, right! How can an employee call a paying (and their rates were really high due to the festival) customer names like disgusting and cuss and scream?? I know she is going to abuse my credit card information too.
