x-posted to my own journal

recently my mom purchased a (very expensive) computer for me from a major computer manufacturer (i only stress expensive, in that you'd think with such a large purchase, one would get decent service).

the fact that my mother purchased it, yet had it shipped to me, has caused no end of trouble with said company. they have been advised repeatedly that i live at a different address, it is my computer; she is just the one that paid for it.

yesterday, while extremely nauseated and sick, i spent an agonizing 20 minutes on the phone with the company trying to purchase a carrying case for it. i repeatedly went over details with the rep, explained the situation, paid for it with my own credit card, gave her my name, address, etc.

i got an email confirming the purchase. it said it was being shipped to my mom at my address. i alerted them to this fact by email as soon as i found out (about 6 hours later) after business hours.

i got the following response:

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear _______, (my full name, spelled correctly)
Thank you for contacting _______ On Line Customer Care.
As per your request for assistance, I understand your concern that you
wish to have the order on the name of Mr.
(my full name, last name spelled incorrectly). i assure you i don't have a male name- if it is used for a man, it is quite unusual (i have only known of one male with the name), and if it's a male, the spelling is (supposed to be) clear that it is masculine.
I have looked through your account and it reflects that your order is
placed under your name only and not on your mother?s name.
For more information you can contact _______ Sales Online at: __________. They will be more than happy to assist you directly on this issue.
because of my flu, i elected to cut/paste and email again instead of struggling through another conversation with a rep.
email i sent back:
~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello,

I am cutting and pasting part of the email I am referring to, which I received shortly after I placed this order:

Order Information

Order Number: _____

Customer Number: _______

Order was placed on: 02/04/2005
Estimated Shipping Date: 02/09/2005

Shipped To:
(my mothers name, which i bolded and italicized)
(my address)

You can see that my mother's name is on the order, or it appears to be. I do not want to have any problems with receiving the package, as my mother does not live here, and I placed the order myself. The address is correct; the recipient is not.

Thank you,

Ms. (my full name)

(i do not ordinarily refer to myself with a title, but i felt it necessary for some reason to identify myself as female).

i got the following response:
