Someone stole my account information. My account was compromised, money was taken out. Wachovia is saying it's from someone I took a payday loan out with and they can't reverse the charges. The payday place is saying "we didn't take it" blah blah. The place that TOOK the money won't reverse it until I call the police (?!?!). Fine. It was only $20. Just close my account and we'll get a new one, I learned my lesson, that's that.
Nope, we can't do that. Why not? Because your account is overdrawn by $10. Ummm... For what? Oh because you called us four times yesterday, we charged you for each call.
REALLY WACHOVIA? Someone STOLE MY ACCOUNT INFORMATION AND WAS USING MY MONEY, I let it go that it was a $20 loss, whatever, but YOU'RE CHARGING ME TO FIGURE OUT WHERE IT WENT?
Needless to say I am EXTREMELY ANGRY (sorry for the caps attack, but I'm super stressed) and I will be going to Wachovia in about an hour to tell them where to shove it and close the account.
Do not bank with them!
ETA: I went over to the bank, calmly told the manager what had happened and she said she'd check it out. She reads all the notes and says, "Well if you were calling for a fraud issue, you wouldn't have been charged. All the notes in here are 'general inquiry' only." And I asked what that meant, and she said, "When you call to ask about your balance, etc. The fraud dept has an entirely different 800 number." So, needless to say, I was even more angry and told her that was crap pretty much. Why wouldn't they just give me that number? Why keep telling me "oh just call back" or "call back and ask for Erica" instead of giving me a direct #? She apologized, said it wasn't a problem to reverse them and closed my account. Peace out, Wachovia!
ETA2: My husband and I are now the proud owners of an account at our local credit union. I explained why we were leaving Wachovia and the woman seemed horrified lol.
