Didn't know ordering checks was so difficult!

Since my (MtF)gf's checking account was first opened, there have been some information changes. I have been added to the account, we've moved, and she has had her name legally changed.

To celebrate the name change and new address (both happened april 1,) we ordered a box of these from StylesChecks. We also ordered a box of deposit slips and a matching checkbook cover for me. We paid extra for UPS shipping because I wanted to be able to track it. I'll admit, I'm more than a little OCD when it comes to tracking packages I am expecting. This is even moreso since my check order also contains my bank account number.

I get an order confirmation e-mail. This email states that when my order ships I will be getting a notification e-mail.

I happen to check my order status on the StylesChecks website. Shipped 4/6. Yesterday. Double checked my e-mail still no ship notification.

So I call up the customer service line to get my tracking numbers. Call #1.Two tracking numbers. One for the checks, one for the deposit slips. The cover shipped yesterday, but that was via standard USPS. I'm a little upset at the checkbook cover going USPS. It wasn't clearly stated that accessories would only ship USPS (it's mentioned on the shipping info page, as well as expedited shipping options for accessories, but there is no option for changing accessory shipping if you are ordering checks.) I assumed when I clicked on UPS shipping it was for my entire order. Not a huge deal, but I did point out to the rep that maybe the website ordering process could make that a little clearer.

Neither of my tracking numbers are valid per so call #2 ensues. I am given the website

For those unfamiliar with the MI service, basically, UPS picks up the package and transports it to the Post Office closest to the final destination for USPS to make the final delivery. I have had packages shipped to me this way before and they have all been nothing but headaches.

And according to UPS MI, there is no tracking info available for two boxes that were supposed to have been shipped out YESTERDAY.

Call #3 happens when I realize exactly how my package was shipped. I was under the impression that I was paying for UPS service, not for UPS MI. I tell the rep that if I had been aware that my order would be shipping UPS MI I would have chosen another shipping method or gone with another check company. I was informed that it is policy that any UPS orders that are just one box of checks will be shipped UPS MI, because UPS still picks it up, it's still UPS service. When I asked about tracking info not being available, FIRST she demands to know where I got tracking info, since I "claimed" to not get a notification e-mail, at which point I mention that this is my third phone call about this today. I was then told that they were "just picked up yesterday" and that it was "only one o'clock" and I should try tracking it later because "it is still early." She did, at least, offer to refund the shipping charges. But anytime I tried to say something, she started talking over me.

That is when I may have gotten a little c_s. I raised my voice slightly and said "Ma'am please stop interrupting me." She told me that she was escalating me because I was being rude.

The supervisor was also less than helpful. I again stated my displeasure about the deceptive shipping AND my concern about the lack of tracking information. I get the whole speech about it being policy to ship UPS orders that are only one box of checks via UPS MI, because it is still UPS and the same service. After a bit of going 'round and 'round about it and the lack of tracking info, she offers to research where my packages are and call me back in about another hour.

I don't think I will be ordering from StylesChecks again.

Update: The supervisor never called back. I know if I called them right now, I'd end up as a c_s post, because I don't really feel like being nice about this anymore. I JUST recieved my ship notification. No tracking number listed. It tries to link me directly to the UPS site, with no mention of UPS MI, and MI tracking numbers do not register as valid tracking numbers through the UPS site.
