Then I tried getting the renewal form online, but it didn't work, so I had to get it posted to me.
First post office - we don't do renewals. (this was my local one).
Second post office - my mistake, I filled the form in the wrong coloured ink.
Third post office - This is the one I'm complaining about. Mt Barker...a woman with an attitude...As I filled in the first one wrong, I tried doing it online again, and this time it worked. All printed out neatly in black. I signed in black. Made an appointment and went to Mt Barker post office, which is a 15 minute drive from home. (as local one can't do it).
She took one look at the form and said..."Nope, can't do it, it's the wrong size as it has to be scanned." I said what should I do. She just shrugged. I gave up and walked out.
I went home, redid the form online, tried jiggering it in Adobe photoshop...printed it out several times, trying to get it the exact same size as the original paper one. Then rang the Australian Passport Office.
Turns out THE ONLY THING THEY NEED TO SCAN IS THE SIGNATURE. The size of the form IS NOT AN ISSUE AT ALL.
Fourth Post Office - Nice friendly girl...form processed in two minutes. I showed her the form that was rejected by Mt Barker and she said there was nothing wrong with it and she had had people sent from Mt Barker before because the woman wouldn't process the passport renewals. Seems to me that she was just lazy.
But to add insult to injury, I rang the post office head office number, they refused to put me through to the Mt Barker Post office, and refused to pass on my complaint.
EDIT: I got an email from the Australian Passport office late yesterday and they wanted to know what Post Office had rejected my form. They are going to contact them personally and let them know their mistake. At least they were interested in sorting this out.
