I don't know if this is bad service per se, or just a pet peeve, but:
I hate it when my total comes to an odd amount, say $5.26, and I pay $6. Then the person behind the counter stares at me, as if expecting more. Sometimes followed by, "Do you have 26 cents?"
Umm, I already gave you enough to settle the bill, and then some. Why do you need more money??
