Minor bad service,

So I got a new debit card in the mail from Bank of America. I had not requested one, and it did not look correct. I almost threw it out because I thought it was spam. I decided to call, though. Turns out they've stopped using Humane Society backgrounds, so they sent me a new one. Only I got no communication to that effect. I would not have known if I hadn't called.

Also, my mother is also on that account so she can easily transfer funds. They sent me her card rather than sending it to her. She lives overseas, so now I have to eat the shipping costs of mailing hers.

Teambuy.ca refuses to give refund when cleaning company goes out of business

My mother bought one of those group discount deals from a website called TeamBuy.ca (they also own dealfind.ca I think?). It was for X hours of cleaning for Y cost. I don't know the exact details as it wasn't my purchase. The coupon was still valid until the end of March this year but when she went to call to arrange an appointment she found out that the company went out of business.

Now Teambuy.ca is refusing to refund her money, saying she can have some website credits instead.

I suppose it's more of a case of buyer beware because she'd had good experiences with various group discount deals (mostly things that came in the mail) and had heard about the good experiences we've had with Groupon (refunding us when a company refused to honour their own coupon, etc) because it does say:

20. Refunds/Returns
TeamBuy will generally only refund the purchase price of a TeamBuy gift card if received within seven calendar days from the date of purchase. Exceptional circumstances will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If refunds are granted after 7 days, they will be in the form of a credit to be used exclusively at TeamBuy.ca. If you would like to discuss a refund, please refer to the "Contact Us" section below.

However, I think that's pretty crappy service if someone wants to get a refund -- not because of buyer's remorse -- but because the company teambuy.ca did business with went under. She's going to try for a charge back with her credit card, but I guess I wanted to let others know watch out for these group discount sites-- some will refuse to refund you even if you have legitimate reasons for wanting a refund :(
