Credit Card Angry Maker

I'll try to keep it short.

I have an AirTran Visa through Barclays.  I made a large payment to my card on Friday.  My intentions were to 1) lower my balance and 2) use the card to buy Christmas presents and therefore get AirTran points.  Saturday I go online and I see my balance is lower, but my available credit is the same as it was before I made the payment.

So I call customer service and they say my available credit is on hold... until December 23rd at 8am.  Well golly gee, that's gonna mess up my Christmas plans.  I could have just made my minimum payment, had all my cash to myself, but no, now it's on some bizarro hold that neither two customer service agents nor one supervisor can explain.  "The bank does this from time to time, but we don't have information as to why."

I'm pretty pissed, as I have no real answer as to why this is happening and the timing is really terrible. I sent an email to Barclays and I hope to find some resolution through that, but I'm not holding my breath.

One way to lose a customer

Today I went to a Sears that I used to work at 10 years ago. The store has remodeled since I worked there. I was shopping with my mom who is physically handicapped and we were looking for clothes specifically meant for her, which we couldn't find. I finally found an employee (cue script):
Me: excuse me, I am looking for the plus size women's dept.
Employee: well, you used to work here so maybe you could help yourself.
Me: yes, I did work at Sears but I never worked in women's. but now I am glad I no longer work here.
I then walked away.

I did kinda fine what I was looking for, but is that any way to talk to a customer, even if they did work in the store at one point?
