Post Office Fail

The post office continues to be the bane of my existence. I got a phone call the other week letting me know that the grandparents had received some of my mail forwarded to NY, with a forwarding label that had been printed off on Oct 13th, after I submitted a change of address form for my move to Northern Florida with the forward to take effect on October 8. So I sent an email asking what was up, and suggesting that maybe they got my change of address form mixed up with my grandparents' change of address form, and to please fix it so I could get my mail in the correct place.

There was an email waiting when I got home from work yesterday. It said:

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your mail. Upon further research, we have found the problem. You have put in several "Permanent" change of addresses in for yourself. Once you use a permanent change, the system will no longer accept any other changes requested. So the only one the system recognizes now is the one your grandparents put in for the New York address. The only way to rectify this situation is to notify all senders of your new adress yourself and not through the post office. We apologize for the inconveniance but until we can redesign our forwarding system, it will not allow is to make any changes to a "permanent" change.

I was like "....bwah?," for not only were there misspellings (idk how the post office misspells address, but there you go) and I knew for a fact that their email forms have spellcheck, but it was blatantly incorrect.

For the change of address form on their website gives two options for your move:

Select Permanent if you have no plans to move back to your old address. (Most moves are permanent.)

AND

Select Temporary if you plan to move back to your old address within 12 months. Your initial forwarding period will be limited to a maximum of 6 months, which you may extend to a maximum of 1 year (in all other cases select Permanent.)

IN ALL OTHER CASES. MOST MOVES ARE PERMANENT. How is it even remotely possible that their system only allows for ONE 'PERMANENT' MOVE EVER IN A PERSON'S LIFETIME if the above options are correct?

I cannot even words, people.
