Dunkin' Donuts fail

A few days ago, Mom offered to make a coffee run. When she came back, she was unusually quiet for a few minutes. At mine and my aunt's prodding, she told me that this had happened at the drive-thru:

MOM: Medium coconut turbo ice, cream only, and a small iced caramel, cream only.
GIRL: A caramel turbo ice and a mocha?
MOM: No, [repeats order].
GIRL: Pull up.

And as Mom was driving away from the menu, she heard the girl mumble "stupid bitch" over the intercom.

She got to the window and the girl wasn't around, but there were two other workers who looked horrified. At first, one of them leaned out and said, "That wasn't directed at you," to which Mom replied, "It better not have been, because I'm pretty irate right now." After that, another guy came up with her drinks and said, "Don't worry - we're not charging you for this."

She was a near-daily customer and on friendly terms with some of the workers. :/ She filed an online complaint - she was unsure about doing it at first, since the other workers were mortified and gave her free stuff, but decided to go through with it because the situation bothered her so much. We'll see if she gets a response.

USPS Crap service

A few years ago my family and I moved over to PA and in that time our mail service has gone from bad to worse to down right terrible but the past few days have really done it for my family and I.

Our mail women has this issue with any sort of package - mainly she refuses to bring them to front door, which is not far from the mailbox. She has broken our mailbox to make packages fit into and if they don't fit she'll leave them on the ground near the mailbox - out by the street. I cannot count the amount of packages she has crammed into the mailbox that needed two people to pull out. If the package needs to be signed for, she will just put the "sorry we missed you" notice in the mailbox without actually trying to deliver it. We're were outside when she delivered the mail once, she handed it to my sister and drove off leaving one of those slips burried in the stack. 

Earlier this week and today I had comics I ordered get delivered, both said 'do not bend'. The first package was not only bent to hell but looked like a wild animal had gotten to it. She had bent it several ways before finding a way to make it fit in the mailbox, the packaging was torn and the entire thing was soaking wet. Thankfully the comics were only bent since they had been wrapped in plastic, then bubble wrapped then tapped between two thick pieces of cardboard. The second arrived today, she placed it inbetween the mailbox door - so that it was sitting on the hinge that closes the door - and rubbed banded the mailbox door shut. This comic is not bend vertically down the middle.

These were brand new comics and some older comics that were NM before she got her hands on it. My mother is worried that if we complain to USPS, she'll only get worse but I really sick of this and the comics pushed me over the edge. Is it even worth it to complain or will it only get our mail messed with more?

Thank you for all the responses, the biggest thing my mother has been worried about it that by complaining it'll just make the problem worse. At this point though, I think shes figured out complaining to USPS is the best way to go.

We just got back from the post office and I'm not feeling great about any of it. I took the comics and the packaging from them so that the person we talked to could see everything - we were told the highest up person there was a manager. He had us fill out a complaint form, told us they would invesitgate and that someone would call us within 2 business days about it. He didn't seem to care at all, he kept saying it was just comics and brushing us off. So, we'll see how that goes but there is a case # so we'll be able to call if we on't hear back from them.

We are going to start taking photos of everything now and if it doesn't stop, we'll keep complaining. Since I have another comic shipping on the 21st, I emailed the site to see if they would be willing to send it via UPS instead or if I could pay extra to get it insured because its new but the series a favorite of mine and I dont want it ruined as well.

(no subject)

A week or so ago I was in the mall and hungry, so I went over to the food court. I'm vegetarian and have Celiac's so there's not much I can have, I ended up at Taco Time and ordered a Mexi Fries Deluxe. (For those unfamiliar, tater tots covered in cheese, sour cream, salsa and beef/beans)

I ordered, the girl put tater tots on a plate and left it on the counter for the other worker to put the things on when she was done with what she was making. The manager came up front, opened up a new bag of lettuce, dumped the lettuce into the holder for it - and threw the bag behind her on top of my tater tots. Fully covering, right on top.

I flagged the worker and asked if I could get a new one made, she looked really confused and asked why, I said "Because now there's garbage on it."

The manager got really angry, started slamming stuff around saying, "It's NOT garbage". The girl took the plate in the back - and then brought the same one back out (you can see the back from where you're standing) and started putting stuff on it. So I said again, "Can I please get a new plate, I can't eat that". She came over and gave me the finished product and I said again, "I'm not going to eat this, can you please remake it"

The manager huffed over, threw it in the garbage and made another one, all the time snarking that "It's not even garbage, it's a BAG".

The kicker? She had picked up the bag when I had pointed it out - and threw it in the garbage.

Now I know that these bags carry food, I know the place that packages these bags probably have measures in place to ensure that the INSIDE of the bags are sterile, seeing as they're holding food.

That being said - the outside is not. I don't know what's touched the outside of that bag, most warehouses have rodent problems, it's been thrown into dirty trucks, handled by workers not wearing gloves, the outside? NOT STERILE. In the long trek from the warehouse to store the outside of that bag could have touched meat juice, dirt or mouse poop.

I don't understand why the manager took it so personally. When you're throwing random garbage behind you, it's not that hard to think, "Maybe I SHOULDN'T throw this on top of the food that's about to be served to a customer". It was frustrating, she treated me like I was an insane customer, when really, I don't know anyone who would want to eat food that had any sort of garbage thrown on top of it.

HAPPY ENDING!!!!

Oh my gosh I could cry tears of happiness!!

So this has been a long saga... but here is the last update:

Today was the meeting with my parents, my advisor, and the department head. My advisor wanted me to retake classes (which I have already passed) and a new person in the mix was the head of a few departments, including student teaching.

We met with her and explained the problem. We were all calm and collected, but I told her that I was upset that I had been told my GPA was fine and all of a sudden, it's not, and now am being told to retake classes I have already passed.

Well then I showed them the print out of my program plan, where it tells me what classes to calculate into my GPA. I then show them the print out from the student teaching website where it states to use this formula to calculate your GPA, and I am following it. I am well within the guidelines and requirements for student teaching. The director looks at my advisor, shakes her head, and says "She's right."

I nearly started crying. She said "Her GPA is fine, I see no reason to not sign the forms."

We had a chat with each other about why they had these requirements for student teachers, which I do understand. I said "I understand why there are requirements in place, but I have been through far more problems than most students, and want to be a teacher far more than most. I will not be a disappointment to this program, this I assure you."

So now all I need to wait for is a placement. I am so happy I could cry. Literally, I almost started crying in the office. I knew I was right, I was following my program plan... thank you God for someone finally being on my side!

And now.... I just hope I get into the school I really want to teach at. There is this alternative school I would LOVE to teach at, and student teaching would really, really help get my foot in the door. So it has a happy ending, thanks for listening to my bitching before, but man this has caused so much stress! Just so glad it ended well!
