Minor b_s at exercise place

Okay, so I've been trying to get into shape, and to keep things interesting for myself I alternate between going to fitness classes at my university (kickboxing, step, etc.) and going to Curves, which if you are unaware is a circuit-training type of program designed specifically for women.

On the days I go to Curves, due to my class schedule I usually end up going toward the end of their work day, which means the place is pretty dead; I'm the only one there, or maybe there are one or two other people. Unfortunately for me, this means that the women working there have nothing else better to do with their time than stand around and chat with me while I'm trying to exercise. It makes me a little uncomfortable, since I don't really like making small talk while trying to focus on a workout, but that's not the suck.

The other day I was in there at my usual time; I was about halfway done and the workers were doing closing-prep type things. (The facility is open until 7, but they don't let people in after 6:30 because the workout takes half an hour.) One of them happens to pass by me while I'm on a machine that's supposed to work your biceps. She looks at me oddly, goes back to the desk at the opposite end of the room, signals the other woman to come with her, and the both come back toward me and stand maybe eight feet away from me.

Employee 1, the one who passed me, starts whispering to Employee 2, pointedly looking in my direction, and even pointed directly at me once or twice. With the workout music playing, I can't make out any words, but the whole thing is making me nervous. Finally, when the whispered conversation comes to an end, Employee 1 comes over to me and tells me some minor thing I'm doing wrong on the machine - crossing my ankles, or something.

Now, I'm all for pointing out mistakes, particularly in an exercise setting where doing the wrong thing could lead to injury. But was it really necessary to drag your coworker over and have a very obvious conversation about me when you could have had that conversation privately over at the desk? Also, it's not like you had to point in the first place, since I was the only person there and therefore the only person you could be talking about.

Again, it's not a huge suck, but they definitely made me feel like I was committing some sort of major faux pas.

bad unidentified courier service

Every month i get a parcel on the 16th like clockwork from a supscription service, up until a few months ago everything was fine, then they stopped using royal mail for deliveries.

Last month i thought was a fluke, a one off but after this months delivery im not sure.

August 2010: both me and my sister were in all day and she witnessed the delivery from the front room which overlooks the garden/road/front door, theres no way not to hear the door. a random silver car pulls up, its not labled as any courier service though, the driver then gets out and delivers a parcel to the neighbour across the road, stil everythings fine, but then they come to the door with a pre filled in form saying they couldnt deliver the parcel. but they never tried! by the time i get downstairs from the attic the cars gone and i have to go collect the parcel from a very annoyed looking neighbour.

september 2010: very short story this time; i made sure i was able to be in all day, it was 7pm when i eventually went to the shops. again my sister who is home from uni was in the front room all day with a view of the garden path/road/front door. theres no attempted delivery, no body came to the door except the royal mail postman. i figure the delivery is late but this morning the neighbour from the next road delivers the package saying it came to their house yesterday again in an unlabled car i discovered after asking. Again they had not attempted delivery but this time there wasnt even a card left.

i know they know where i live, the first three packages were successfully delivered to my house. roll on next month. hopefully i find out which company they are with next time.
jayne and vera. customer service and bad

Witnessed bad service on the bus.

Dear bus driver,

Your bus can be raised and lowered to allow passengers to more easily enter and exit. If an elderly woman makes two attempts to climb onto the bus, fails both times, and nearly falls over on her second attempt, this might be a sign that you should lower the freaking bus.

No love,
The hippie chick whose grandma would've delivered a righteous smackdown upon your sorry ass if she'd been trying to board your bus.

(I'm very good about respecting people's personal space on the bus, but in this case I was standing right behind the woman with both my hands out, like catching a trust fall, in case she went over backwards. Because it absolutely looked like she was going to.)

(no subject)

I moved from NY to El Paso,Tx about 6 months ago. In NY, I never had to wait in line very long at Target. It's why I would always go there, I'd rather pay a little bit of higher prices than deal with the long lines of Walmart. Here in El paso, both the Targets around me only have 2-3 registers open (even on the weekend!).
