cheer up, emo state. have a pickle.

so, today in line to get a sub a the deli in Publix, i watched as the two employees working the counter got into an argument over who was supposed to restock the cooler, which ended when one of them walked off after calling her coworker a bitch and tossing her mustard-spreading spatula back into its vat of mustard. too bad her aim was off and it hit the counter, bounced, and made a fun gooey mess.

i'm glad i was next in line and didn't get that sandwich, cuz pissed-off Deli Lady #2 threw the thing together in a huff and it looked like, well, poo. aaaand we all got to stand in line and wait for backup to get there, which took forever, while DL#2 wiped up the splatter. most of the line walked off, but a few of us stayed: me, because i was picking up for a couple people, and two others so they could complain. at least that was fun to watch.

almost as fun as the register guy who punched one of the cooks @ the Pollo Tropical round the corner a few months ago. (he was obviously insane...the cooks use CLEAVERS for pete's sake.)

watching two employees fight and cuss at each other is pretty much the norm here, though. i've grown up in South Florida, and i cannot wait to get out. because everywhere i go, everyone is so freakin PISSED all the time. i'd love to know why its so.

Comfort1st/ bad service

May 5 we went through to the Comfort 1st site to order a double stroller, as I was due to have my 3rd baby at the end of June. We paid $626.99 and had free shipping. The stroller was placed on backorder... fine.

June 19, my daughter was born stillborn. I get home from the hospital and find out that the stroller as shipped that day. Immediately we contacted Comfort 1st and explained we didnt need the stroller any more, as our baby had died, and they agreed to intercept the package and have it sent back to their warehouse. Wonderful, very helpful!

It arrived back to them by the 1st of July (I checked the tracking number to make sure). So then, we wait for the money to get credited back to our card. By the August 10th, the money still was not back in our account, so i contacted them, and asked what the holdup was, when will we get out money back? They said it would be credited back within 48 hours. terrific!
I check my credit card account today, and I see money credited back from Comfort 1st... in the amount of $556.99. wait, we paid $626.99! Where is the other $70??

Contact the company AGAIN, and get told "Oh, that was the shipping and handling fee! you dont get that back!" We explain that we did not PAY any shipping and handling, and were essentially told 'too bad, so sad. That $70 is shipping and handling, you do not get it back'

So what started off as great service from Comfort 1st, has turned into bad service. The last thing we want to deal with after losing our daughter is then having a company not give us the full amount we paid for their product.

September: our apartment is broken into via the window. The thief rips off the screen and damages the blinds (one slat is broken, the screen is the bigger issue). We call the front office to alert them (after the police, of course) and inform them we'll need maintenance.

In between: several maintenance requests are made but not fulfilled. Notably, they come out very rapidly for reports of flooding (turned out the AC was leaking water into the bathroom).

August: still can't open our window because there's no bug screen and it's friggan august, there's wasps out there. They ask us to sign a new lease. We do so, and in the process alert them again that we need a new bug screen. By now, the other window's latch is broken, but maybe one request at a time will be more likely to get through?

A week later. Still no screen. I notice on my LJ that it's been 11 months since I posted about the break-in.
