This is tale of bad_service from my place of employment. I work at a well-known animal hospital.

New receptionist makes appointment with Doc for a new client/patient bird. She checks with Office Manager as well as several techs to be sure Doc will see a new bird. He is no longer accepting new dog/cat clients (but our other docs are; we are a 5 doctor practice) and is the only one who will see birds; however, he only does beak/nail/wing trims. We send sickies to another specialized vet.

Ok, on to the bad_service. Woman comes in. Never been seen. Waits for her appointment only for the Doc to refuse to examine bird and send her out, telling her to tell us that he doesn't know why we [receptionist] scheduled her with him and that he isn't accepting new bird patients.

I don't see why he couldn't have appologized, made an exception, and checked her bird out, and I don't know why he didn't tell us himself instead of making her tell us herself after not being seen.

She was very upset and understandibly so. How embarassing for our clinic.

This was bad_service all the way around from my coworker making the appointment for this poor woman without actually checking with Doc and the way Doc handled it. He was a complete jerk about this whole thing.

Rental Car Suck / Huge Management Suck

This might be odd, but I'm actually the employee that got stuck in the middle of this horrible drama.

I'm posting this because I feel so bad about what happened, that I need to rant.

I'm a rental agent for National and Alamo in a college town with two separate campuses. I have no idea why but both the Jr. College and the University decided to have graduation on the same damn weekend. That weekend is next weekend (the 14th - 16th) and we've gotten to the point where as soon as cars come in, they're cleaned and held in the back for this weekend. We're not taking walk ups or new reservations at this time.

My boss, in some half-brained attempt to make more money, didn't close out the inventory though - she simply raised the prices to nearly double and told me it was to discourage people from reserving a car, but if some dumb sap took that rate she'd allow it and "just bump someone else". (Bad Service/WTF #1)

In an attempt to make her feel better, I confided in her that I am looking for another job. Ruining peoples vacations is not something I'm willing to do every week.

TL:DR - Suck #1: In preparation for our bussiest weekend of the year, rather then close out the computer, my boss simply hiked the rates up in order to discourage new reservations, and told me that if someone was stupid enough to pay that much, she'd leave customers with premade reservations high and dry - for da moar m0niez!

Suck #2: Despite that corporate policy does not allow us to just randomly be canceling people's reservations, my boss has a habit of doing exactly that for the sake of avoiding foreigners, minorities, poor people, locals (because they're running drugs, of course *eyeroll*) and high milage rentals. I've never had to be the vessle of this bullshit before, but today it nearly drove a customer to tears.


I have debated whether or not to post this because I am currently residing in Europe and am from the US, so I'm not sure whether or not this is more of a cultural thing or what. But in the US it would be considered bad service, and to me it is bad service, so here I go...

There is a shawarma place near my work that advertises that it has baked potatoes. Also on the menu are falafel and, of course, shawarma. I am a vegetarian and had a huge craving for a baked potato once, so I went there. The guy tells me they're out of baked potatoes. So I ask for falafel. Nope, they're out of falafel, too. Oh well.

The second time I go there I get my falafel and it's great.

The third time I go and the guy who runs the shop is talking on his cell phone. A lot of shop owners do this around here, and will often put the customer on hold in favor of their phone call. I order falafel, but of course, they're out of falafel again, so I just order a pita with hummus. The guy starts preparing the pita with his bare hands, not washing them first, and continues talking on the phone and doing the mouthing/pointing thing to me so I can tell him what I want in my pita instead of actually talking to me throughout the entire transaction. At one point he scratched his ear and then continued to prepare the food with his bare hands. He never said a word to me other than mouthing the bare essentials to me throughout the conversation. I was really grossed out and will never go back there again. Not to mention the odds of them actually having something I want to eat if I go back the next time are slim.
