So the day before thanksgiving I started putting thought into a Christmas tree for this year, I don't have an artificial one I like the fresh cut kind. You know the sort that make your house just smell wonderful and remind you of being little? Well no car this year and I didn't want to ask a friend to strap a live tree to the hood of their car so I did some research online and found the oddest thing. You can buy fresh cut trees online and they DELIVER them! And not too terribly expensive at that!
Excited I shopped around and found a place I liked that had good reviews so I placed my order, the website said it would ship out that Monday. Now the thing with this is, I work indirectly for the shipping company they use. Since the tree farm is the state over from me even being shipped Ground it would reach me the very next day. So excited I placed the order and set to wait for my Christmas tree!
Tuesday rolled around and no tree. Well I didn't think too much about it after all maybe since I was so close they'd shipped it out on Tuesday or with Christmas coming it was a day late. The next day went by with no tree in sight, so I E-mailed the company and asked politely for a tracking number that way I'd know what day it was going to arrive. The company called me back later on and said that due to bad weather they hadn't been able to get out to cut my tree and ship it and that it wouldn't go out until the following monday. I said I understood (I really do) even though I was a bit put out since they could have at least told me that Saturday when they found out there would be a delay. Instead they waited until I'd contacted them about it.
So Monday comes and I'm bouncing since Tuesday I will be getting my tree! Went to bed Tuesday (I sleep during the days since I"m a third shifter) and woke up to see if they'd dropped off my tree or left me a door hanger thing. Neither. But I did get the tree holder I'd ordered from them. Confused I e-mailed the company again to see if I could get a tracking number for the tree in case something was wrong.
They E-mailed me back saying there were shipping delays but it DEFINITELY went out on Tuesday. But no tracking number, they just said that they signed me up for E-mail alerts about the shipment, which they did do since I had an E-mail announcing my tree holder had been delivered. Again no E-mail, no phone call, nothing to say that the tree was shipped late or there were problems. They simply waited until I got a hold of them to come clean. So yesterday I woke up and opened the door to see if I had my tree yet...and no. No tree.
So it's been just over two weeks since I placed my order and I have a tree holder, but no tree. I'm going to E-mail again tonight if it's not here and ask what's going on. I'm hoping it was just a delay since it had rained and iced over last night, but some how I think my tree...it's not shipped out yet. I'm more miffed about not having a tracking number. I normally wouldn't be if it were another shipping company but I work for this one so I could track it and find out what's going on with it.
Basic suck...If your not able to meet the deadlines for shipping that you have promised on your site, get a hold of your customer! I won't be ordering a tree from them again I promise. If it's not here today and they don't give me at least a tracking number to find out what's up, I'm going to cancel my order. It's not worth the hassle and for all I know I won't even GET my tree until Christmas.
I am a regular rider rider of the buses in my city. This is the only time I have EVER had a problem with them.
It was last year, and I just got back in town after visiting a friend for Christmas. I had this huge suitcase that needed to be put inside one of the storage compartments under the bus because it simply would not fit. Things are fine and dandy. I pay the fee and kick back for the hour-or-so it would take to get back into town.
My stop arrives, I get off and go to locate my suitcase...only to find that it is NOT in the storage compartment at all. Keep in mind, this was one of those HUGE black things that was easily about 3/4 my height, and certainly bigger than everything else that was in that compartment. But the compartment was empty. No suitcase. Poof! Gone. Vanished.
I freak out, try to remain calm, and through some questioning, find that the bus driver apparently took ALL the luggage out at the last stop...and did not even bother to check to make sure it was retrieved before leaving the stop. That suitcase had easily about $200 - $300 worth of things in it and literally half my wardrobe, so I did not take this lightly, and was trying not to think of everything I would have to replace if I never got it back. I went to the higher-ups, and they called the stations near that stop to get someone to check to see if it was still there.
Fortunately, it was, but from the time I got to the station to the time I left, that suitcase could have been stolen simply because the driver did not feel the need to double check and make sure the luggage there was taken before driving off. The gentlemen who helped me handled the situation marvelously.
I never did find out what happened to that driver (I was fed up by that point, politely thanked them for their help, and went home), but I hope she got some sort of mark against her, especially considering the circumstances, it clearly was neglect on her part. I honestly have no idea what I would have done if that suitcase had been taken.
A little while ago, I consigned approximately 20 items. On the day that I had to pick them up, I was told that I either picked them up that day or I could leave them but if anything sold even the next day, they would keep the money. So I asked to take all of my stuff and when I asked to get a piece of jewelry back, they said that it had been put out after all of my items so they couldn't give it to me yet. I asked them why they put it out after all of the other goods when I consigned them at the same time and they said that they didn't know, but if I wanted to take it out early, I would have to pay an extra $10. Since the expiration date of the item was a weekend that we would be away and I didn't want to risk them selling it and keeping the money from it if I didn't pick it up, I opted to take it and pay $10 to get my item back with all of the others.
So, my grandfather died in May. Everything was in his name only. This just worked for them.
Well, we called their internet provider to inform them that he had died and we needed to have the internet switched over to my grandmother's name. Instead, the lovely internet company sent us a letter that basically said, "We received your request to cancel your internet subscription. It has been turned off. Thank you for using [internet service] and feel free to call with any questions."
At no point did we ever indicate that we wanted the service turned off. At the time, my cousin was living with my grandmother and she needed the internet for school.
My grandmother was in no state to talk to them (she ended up dying two months after my grandfather) so I called as her.
I would classify this more as a wtf service than bad.
I recently called my landlord about my heater not working, and today a guy came by to fix it. To my embarrassment, it was just the circuit breaker...aka, it wasn't flipped on. Not my brightest moment (I blame finals - I'm usually not THAT stupid).
Anyway, the guy decides to redo the screws in the heater cover because they had been put in wonky. I go downstairs because he wants to show me how to use the heater (I guess he thought I was too dumb to figure it out since flipping the circuit breaker hadn't crossed my mind). He asks me if I go the local university, I say yes, and then he decides to stand and talk to me about his life for 30 MINUTES.
What I learned about him (all about his life except his name...): - his son got a degree but decided he really wanted to be in the army - his daughter died of lupus and left behind a kid - the kid's father is a douche who's currently in jail for way too many speeding tickets - he doesn't like the idea of hunting - you can do anything in America, as opposed to Mexico - his son in the army is soon to be a sergeant and is going to Iraq
And since I have Bleeding Heart Syndrome™, I didn't have the heart to tell him to leave. I don't mind the occasional anecdote, but being told one's life story for a half hour, unprompted, is...weird. Finally when I got up off the couch (shouldn't have sat down!) he got the hint and left.
So yeah, I don't know when I became a therapist, but apparently somebody thought I was one!
