My husband had a wee bit of bad service tonight. This is from his personal LJ (I'm the Jess he mentions, btw):
On the way home from work tonight I went through the Wendy's drive-thru, ordered some food for Jess and got myself the good old number nine, chicken nuggets. Once I get home I sit down, chat with Jess for a moment and unload the food, I opened my nugget box to a wee bit of a surprise....
I mean I can't believe someone would be so argumentative and rude to a paying customer with such an obviously legit complaint. So the offending nugget is still in my possession, and tomorrow before work I'm going in to speak with the general manager. Honestly I don't even give a shit about the nugget anymore, fuck it. What I want now is to hear someone say "I'm sorry." and to get a refund. Had she simply apologized for that happening and given me my refund all would be well and I would have a new weird ass story to tell, now they have one pissed off customer on their hands.
Just so you know, he used to work as a manager in fast food, so he's not at all attempting to be the atypical entitlement customer. He just knows bad service when he sees it. He would have gotten fired in 2 seconds flat if he had done something like that at his old job.
So I've been reading LJ for a little while now, I actually joined not too long ago. When this happened to me on Saturday this was the first place I thought of. Now on to the bad_service...
I stopped at a Checkers before going to my friends house. I pulled up to Checkers at 1:30. As I was pulling in I noticed they only had one drive through side open and I decided to go to the walk up window. I parked and walked up, a teenaged boy saw me walking up and he ran to get in line first, okaaaaay. I stood in line and waited. The line consisted of Me, Rushed Teenager, and another gentleman at the front of the line. The first guy placed his order and the woman in the window disappeared. The first guy then looks at us and says I hope you're ready to wait, it took 5 minutes before they took my order. I thought well the drive thru looks full they are just busy.
A full 10 minutes later I was able to place my order. The woman swiped my card and I commenced waiting. She gave me my drink and my milkshake. And I waited in 90 degree weather for my food. I ordered a checker burger with no cheese, the combo. No big right?
I continued waiting, at this point it was 10 to 2. I had been waiting for 20 minutes. The woman shows up and hands food to the first guy who snatched his bag and walked away, and the rushed teenager. I as able to catch her before she closed her window. I said that since it is taking so long I would just like to get a refund and go someplace else. She said that she couldn't do the refund but that my food was coming in a minute. OK. I stand there. At this point the drive thru is cleared out. I look through the window and see the employees chit chatting. No One is working. I knock and ask for the manager, I just want a refund. The manager says it will just be a minute more. She then closes the window without another word and rolls her eyes. I am livid. About 5 minutes later she hands me my food. I tell her that due to the wit my milkshake is now water and could she please redo it. While she does that I look at my burger. CHEESE. I'm lactose intollerant, like really intollerant, it kills my insides. I tell her that this is supposed to not have any cheese. she snatches the burger back from me and pulls the cheese off. and slaps it back together. I looked at it again and there were still cheese pieces. I tell her about my intollerance and ask her to please mak it from scratch. She says fine but you'll have to wait again. Then she slammed the window shut. While I was waiting yet again for my burger other people started to walk up it is now 2pm. I started telling them how slow they were moving and that I had been standing here for 30 minutes. Finally my burger is done. I don't say anything about my newly melted milkshake and walk off. I am livid. From start to finish it took them a little over 30 minutes to put together a burger and fries.
The manager was useless and i didn't even get to enjoy my burger. The kicker. When I finally got to my friends house and took a bite of my now cheeseless burger, there was bacon on it.
TLDR: Checkers took in excess of 30 minutes to make a burger.
Edit: The milkshake wasn't for me. It was for my friends 3 year old daughter.
So, I ordered a pizza online at Pizzahut.com at 12h18. It charged to my credit card, it showed up in Previous Orders- I got charged for it. The address was right, the phone number was right, I have used that account before and ordered things and got them on time.
The estimated time of arrival was 12h48.
I call in about 1h15. I get on the phone and call from my home phone, I'm automatically waitlisted. I stay on hold for 30 minutes. Every 10 minutes, I get cut off with a busy signal so I had to call three times. The fourth time, I got really pissed off so I use my little brother's cellphone to call in.
My call goes through and I get a person in about 20 seconds or less. I complain- I ordered my pizza almost an hour and 45 minutes ago, I never got it- I got charged- I just want my damn pizza- she transfers me to a 1-800 number. It doesn't go through. She gives me a number to call for Customer Service. She never ONCE offers to redeliver my pizza. I talk to the woman, I can't get a refund unless I give all my information to the district manager of my store who can only call after 3 business days. I am FUMING. I thank her for her help- she wasn't the one who fucked up my order- and I am seriously about to kill something.
I can't go out to eat- I don't have a car, it's raining and my dad's girlfriend's son took the bike somewhere. It has been TWO HOURS. I am fucking furious.
tl;dr? : Never got my order, paid for it anyway, never offered to send it late, didn't get jack shit done.
So, I'm not one of those people who thinks everyone in the world needs to accommodate monoglot English speakers, but when it comes to tax, especially when you're in a country that taxes people up to 50% of their income, you'd think it would be important that non-native speakers could actually call their tax information in.
I got a job in Denmark. I know intermediate-level Danish, but not enough to understand it very well aurally, and I work for an English-speaking company. I needed to call in my information to report to the tax office. I tried at least two or three times to get through the automated Danish phone-in service, but failed every time. Finally, I gave up and pressed "9" for "English language assistance" (which the recording says IN ENGLISH).
Someone answers "English language assistance" in Danish. I say, "Hi, I would like to be sent a tax card, what do I-" and am immediately transfered to a different line, which is the same automated recording I had tried to get through earlier IN DANISH.
So I tried again. Same thing.
My co-worker also tried to get English language assistance and the same thing happens to her.
Finally we both have to resort to having another co-worker call for us and help us through the process.
Funny that the "English language assistance" was neither in English, or did it assist us. If I hadn't been able to file my information I guess I could keep that extra 38% of my paycheck, then....
