Dollar Tree

Yesterday I stop by dollar tree to pick up a few water guns for my nephew to play with since it has been really warm as of late and this has been one of the few weekends where it hasn't been raining. I find the guns, make my choice, get into the line and thus the suck starts.

The cashier a young kid has those ear pods stuck in his ears as he rings people up, his mp3 player is laying on the counter in front of him. He isn't really speaking to anyone or listening when people are telling him where their stuff stops so he has to keep asking in a loud voice since I think all he can really hear is his music if this stuff or that stuff belongs to a person. He is also really slow because he keeps picking up the player to mess with it.

I finally get to the checkout and he doesn't greet me, just grabs the guns and swipes them dumping them into a bag roughly and grumps out a total which is 3.23. I hand him 5.23 and wait for change. He grumps out that 3 bucks is my change and just kinda shoves the money at me with the receipt. I look at the receipt because I know it isn't right and yep he did give me back a dollar to much.

I get his attention which again isn't easy because he has the damned mp3 player going in his ears, to tell him he gave me back to much as I am trying to hand him back the extra dollar. He looks at me with a huff and takes the receipt back, studies it and asks me what did I mean he gave me to much change. I mentally hit the floor because he doesn't get the fact that the change is clearly stating he gave me a dollar too much.

I explain it to him, he again has to look at the receipt and them the money in my hand before that dim light bulb flickers over his head and he snatches the extra dollar out of my hand saying something about how I almost got lucky as if I was trying to cheat him! No thank you, no have a nice day.

It's moments like that that I wonder why do I even bother trying to be nice or honest...

So I went to my salon yesterday:

I had a haircut and style, as well as waxing on my eyebrows and upper lip.

As usual, my stylist did a great job.  I got a dynamite cut and my face looked great (not even red!)  I also got some hair products.

I go to pay for my items.  The girls at the front counter were far too busy gossiping to bother to ring me up.  I said "excuse me" a couple times.  They gave me dirty looks and carried on their conversation.  After five minutes, one of them finally had the presence of mind to ring me up.

The total was far lower than usual.  They had forgotten to ring up my waxing services.  Since they made me wait so long and were so rude, I didn't call them on their mistake.  Oops!  Pay attention next time.

And of course, I tipped my stylist generously for all three services.

For the record, the salon is located in a major department store, so they won't miss the extra $20.

Edit: So...thanks everyone for your feedback, I really appreciate it.  I was being a bitch, and I went back and paid the extra $20 today.  And I feel a hell of a lot better about it.  And hopefully those employees will get told off.
