(no subject)

Background: I go to a fairly small school in Massachusetts where all the campuses are so close together, there are only 6 bus stops for the whole college. Realistically, if I did not have to lug my laptop and books the whole way, and if it wasn't so cold, I could walk it. Two buses run at once except when one is on break. It takes 15-20 minutes to circle the campus, going to all six stops. With two buses, you rarely wait more than 10 minutes. With one bus, 20 is the most you wait.

I walk to the bus stop at 2:10. I wait for 10 minutes. Some guy that lives two buildings from me sits down. 10 more minutes. 5 more minutes. I call campus police and ask them if the bus broke down. They say no, theres lots of traffic right now. I glance out at the main street. There is no traffic. I thank him. We wait... And wait and wait and wait. at 2:48(!!!) I am fed up and start walking back to my apartment, about a half mile away. I pass one bus stop, and a short road that the bus travels on to get to another bus stop. I get to my apartment at 3:06. At no time has a bus passed me, and I haven't seen it either. I'm pissed off and freezing, so I email the college to complain, knowing they don't care.

This is probably not that big of a deal, but it really annoyed me, so I thought I would share.

Yesterday, I went to Staples to pick up some labels for the marketing packaging I am making for work. I am on a bit of a time crunch, as probably most working people are during the day in an office supply store, but that is my problem, not theirs. I get that.

Anyway, I get to the till, and there are two girls, probably both about 18 or 19 years old. They are giggling and chatting and being really childish and talking about things that aren't very appropriate - like "oh my god, I need a break, this sucks" (sorry my buying something disturbs you) and "oooh that woman that just came in is the DEVIL"

Ok, so complaining about your job is one thing, but she was talking about some poor unsuspecting CUSTOMER. So, I said to her, "Excuse me, but you do realize that all of us in line can hear you talking about customers like that, don't you?"

She perks up, looks at me and says "Oh, I am talking about my friend"

THEN, turns to her coworker and says "Wow, what a bitch"

I wish I could say I walked out or did something in retaliation, but I was too stunned to do anything.

Car issues

Apparently my parents thought it was important to get me a car a.s.a.p. I really didn't have a choice in the matter and so we bought a 2007 Saturn Ion. Now I'm making $300 car payments per month. Yes, it sucks but what sucks even more is the screwed up bank I'm going through to get the loans for the car (GMAC).

For the past several months they've been screwing up. I would send the check out on the 19th or 20th (depending on if the the 20th was a weekend or not) when my payment was due the 28th. Now one would think that 8-9 days would be enough for to get the payment on time. Well apparently it is/isn't. In August 2007, their check processing plant that I was sending my checks to closed. They didn't warn customers about it and thus I got a statement in the mail claiming they didn't get my check -_- Yes, minor annoyance but I called them up and sorted that out. September comes around and they get my check perfectly fine (sent it out the 20th). Then October comes and guess what I got in the mail yesterday? Yep, a notice saying they didn't receive my payment (mailed out October 19th!). Now I don't know what to do. I've been doing this (sending it out on the 19/20th) since about May. So I don't know why it's all of a sudden that they just magically don't get my checks. I think I'm going to talk to my parents about switching banks. I just can't deal with this anymore. It's so frustrating to be yelled at by my parents for something I can't control.

I just wanted to post this here saying that GMAC sucks as a bank to get a loan through. Don't do it.

I didn't know dusk = after dark

It gets dark here in IL around 5PM now. At 4:30PM the sun is setting as I pull into a gas station across from my house.
Now there is a HUGE yellow sign on every pump that says "Pre-pay after dark." But it's not dark.
I select Pay Inside - Cash. I put the nozzle in my gas tank. I lift the lever and I hear, "Pre-pay after dark!"
I turn around, puzzled, and the guy at the register is GLARING at me. OK. Fine. I lower the level, I put the gas nozzle back, I go inside.

Guy behind counter: *Rudely* Missed the signs huh?
Me: I missed that it was dark.
Guy: WHATEVER, it's close enough. How much?
Me: $30
Guy: *rips money out of my hand and proceeds to press buttons* You have to shut the pump off.
Me: I did.
Guy: No you didn't!
Me: I lowered the lever and put the gas nozzle back...
Guy: *SIIIIIIGH* Come on, I'll show you.

We go outside to my car, it's all back the way it was when I got there.

Guy: Did you select pay inside?
Me: Yes
Guy: Well then why isn't it working?

Back inside we go. He presses more buttons, he sighs more. Finally he throws my money back at me.

Guy: It's fucked up now! We lost an entire pump because of you.
Me: Can I just go to another pump?
Guy: If I wanted you at another pump I wouldn't have gave you your money!
Me: Oh... um.... OK then...

The owner of the station works there during the morning, he's a sweet old guy who always teases me about my jumbo size of coffee. I plan to discuss the *lovely* evening employee with him tomorrow, even if nothing comes of it.

*Edit to ask -
Does anyone on here work at a gas station? How did he lose an entire pump because of me? Is it because he couldn't get mine to clear off?
