Dusty, how I hate you

I suppose it's mostly my own fault that I opened an account with in the first place, but there were some issues that I'll not go into causing me to want to keep an eye on my credit report for a several month period. That period being done and me deciding I'd rather use that money for other things, I called the company this past spring. April's my best guess, but I really can't be sure about that. So I called and talked to an employee who offered me a couple months free use and then the account would be canceled. I asked if it would be automatic or if I would have to call back after that period, because if that were the case I wouldn't have accepted. But I was reassured that I wouldn't have to call back and that everything was taken care of.

Cut to today, I receive an automated email from them stating that a payment had bounced! Bwuh? I called back, find out that my account is still open and active, and after some beating around the bush find out that indeed, I would have had to call back to truly cancel the account. Fantastic. Oh well, it's canceled now (which I only believe because I got a confirmation email telling me as much)

I was at H&M the other day, and bought a couple things that totaled up to $25.80. I knew I had a giftcard in my wallet that came up to something around $30, so I figured I'd use it when I was paying. I gave the cashier the giftcard, and was told that my giftcard balance was emptied, and I had $25.80 to play. I thought this was odd, but for some reason didn't think much of it since it was the end of a long week and I was bloody BEAT. I gave the woman my Visa, finished the transaction, and stupidly left without looking at the receipt.

When I got home, I looked at the receipt when I was taking my things out of the bag, and noticed some things:

-it confirmed that my total was $25.80, so that's fine
-it said that I in fact DID have $29.90 on my giftcard. none of this total was paid with said giftcard.

So basically, not only should I have a giftcard with $4.10 remaining, but I have an extra $25 gone from my checking account that didn't have much to begin with, and some evil employee went on a mini shopping spree. Or maybe I'm just really cynical and she was just stupid, haha. I'll check it out when I have a chance to go back and get this resolved, ugh.

Follow up on Lowe's

Follow up to the Lowe's refund deal that I posted about over the weekend. (I'm not terribly sure how to post a link here) :)

My husband managed to get the windows returned today. He walked in, told them he needed a refund, they asked how he'd like the money. He told them preferrably cash. They said "no problem, here's your cash". He left.

I'm so glad it's settled however totally baffled as to why it didn't work that way on Saturday. LOL
