Minor, but really annoying. I went to Staples today and was dropping off a pre-paid package. I went up and smilingly greeted the person in a Staples uniform behind the cash register under the UPS sign, only to be told, loudly and in ridiculously rude tone that "I'm not WORKING this counter, there's only ONE person working here and she'll BE with you in a MINUTE." I was a bit taken aback, but I stood aside and waited. The other girl, who was doing some copying, looked up and asked me if the package was pre-paid. I said yes, and the first girl again said "I TOLD you she'd be with you in a minute!" I almost informed her just as loudly that the second girl had asked me a question and I was responding, but I decided to ignore her, because then the second girl (who was very competent and polite) said to the first, "Well, there are three people waiting, so it won't be only a minute for all of them". The second girl checked my package in and gave me a receipt, taking all of ten seconds, after she'd finished with the person she was helping.
I mean, how am I to know that if you're wearing a Staples uniform and standing at the cash register beneath the UPS sign that you don't deal with packages? I've had my shitty days working retail, but seriously. Attitude. It really does matter.
