I called in a refill for my Allegra Friday morning. It had no more refills, but it generally takes my doctor's office less than an hour to get back to the pharmacy. This time, it didn't. I don't have any of my medication left to take tonight. When I went to pick it up today, they told me that my doctor hadn't gotten back to them, but they probably will on Monday. Okay, no problem, things happen, I understand. I ask if there's any way for me to just get two measly pills to tide me over for the weekend. He says no. Apparently, if it's IMPORTANT, like heart medication or something, he could, but since it was JUST allergy medication, he couldn't.
Uh, what? I tell him that I get sick easily, I can't avoid the things I'm allergic to, and seriously nothing over the counter works. When my allergies get going, I don't get the sniffles. I have full blown coughing fits that make me puke and I can't breathe right for a week. Still can't give it to me. I've had the same thing happen to me before, like two years ago, at another pharmacy. They gave me a week's supply right then and there. Now I have to find a way to stay away from grass (I live in Southern California, the neighbors are always cutting their grass) and mold (our water heater broke last spring and leaked all over the garage, it's got mold now) until Monday night.
Anyone have suggestions? I used to be on Claritin and Zyrtec (and a million others I can't remember), but they don't work anymore.
