Something happened earlier tonight at the [local cambodian] restaurant that left me shocked and stunned, and I want to spread the word to as many people as possible.
My family went there for dinner, as we had done often. This time, when I asked about a table, the owner's son told me very rudely that they "aren't running a day care" and that we were to leave. They were refusing us service because my kids (A, 3, and M, 1) were not welcome there. He said all of this right in front of them.
I couldn't believe it; we had all eaten there many times, and left a good tip each time. It was one of A's favourite restaurants. There was never any sort of event that would warrant us being barred from the restaurant, or any prior indication that we weren't welcome. Even if there would have been, his rudeness was unacceptable and caught me completely off-guard. Four of my friends happened to be eating there at the time and, witnessing the whole thing, also walked out.
As you can probably imagine, I'm very angry. This kind of stuff isn't supposed to happen in Canada, and I would like to do everything I can to ensure that it doesn't. If anyone has any advice on how I can proceed with this restaurant, please let me know.
I would also like to encourage anyone who is considering eating there to go to [other local cambodian restaurant] instead: the food is better, and the owner is fantastic.
