a little OT

Alright, here is a question for all the bank workers here.

I've gotten calls from banks desperate to find people before, as in a horrible situation where one of my ex-roomates deadbeat friends gave out MY phone number to her bank and credit companies. They would call desperate to find her, and I would have to explain that I have never met her and had no way of getting ahold of her (this was after my roomate had moved out.) But today was something new.

I got a call from a bank asking for two people I had never heard of. I said I didn't know them, assuming that they were the people who lived in my apartment before I moved in.

She then explains that they live in the apartment next door, and she wants me to go over and tell them to call her. Apparently she couldn't get ahold of them.
Now, I don't know these people and I have no desire to get involved in their finacial affairs.

Is this something that typically happens? It seemed pretty invasive to me, and to them as well. I know I would be a little put off if my neighbor came over and said "your bank has been calling looking for you"
