I admit that I disagree with the mandatory large-party gratuity that many restaurants include. It gives the servers no incentive to give any service whatsoever. When places don't require it, my friends and I tend to end up giving more than the mandatory 15% or 20% that places tend to require due to the fact that we realize a large group is harder to handle.
