Is it bad service or bad computer program?

Today was my last day at work and my co-workers took me out to lunch.  We went to Bennigan's.  We were there for 2 and half hours.  We normally go out once a month and never take more than an hour and a half.  Five of us ordered from the Lucky 3 menu where you can pick an appetizer, entree, and desert for $10.99.  The service was kind of bad.  There were 12 of us and he got a few drinks messed up, brought the wrong appetizer for 2 people, and then one person had a few hairs in her pasta (not his fault).  When he brought the checks, they all seemed a bit high.  They added gratuity which we expected but the folks with the Lucky 3 orders had higher gratuity than the rest.  We spoke to a manger and he explained that they were all different because they take the gratuity from the total of what the meal would have been without the Lucky 3 discount.  So, if I were to get a meal that would have been originally $25 then my gratuity is based on that amount not the $10.99 it is now.  Which we all thought was not right.  We understood how it worked but that seemed a little shady.  We all agreed that the gratuity should be from the total of the bill now, not what it would have been. The manager assured us that he was going to call corporate and complain about the computer system and said there was no way to change it.  Plus, two people who got the same exact meal had a $3 discrepancy on their bills.  

Regardless the group will not be going back to that location.
