Well, whoever was calling for Daniel Last Name apparently can't come to that logical conclusion. Because they called earlier this week looking for him and I actually answered the phone. The girl on the other end of the phone insisted that she had talked to him twice at my number (she repeated the number to me, and yes, it was mine). I explained to her that it was impossible that she spoke with him at my number, that the number belonged to me and not him, I've had it for 10 years, and I have no clue who Daniel Last Name is. I asked her to please not call it again because she had the wrong number. I figured it was a collection agency looking for him and that would be the end of it.
Boy was I wrong. I received another call today for Daniel Last Name, from the same person who called earlier in the week. This time I was still polite, but very firm, and a bit annoyed. I repeated to her what I had told her earlier in the week, that the number was mine, and I had no clue who he was or how they got my number. She insisted that she had talked to him twice on my number. I asked if it was a collection agency, she refused to answer, and once again after I told her the number did not belong to him, and again insisted they had talked to him twice on it.
At that point, I decided I had enough, because I knew we would be going around in a circle forever, and asked to speak with the supervisor. After being on hold for about a minute, the supervisor came on and I explained the situation. I also explained that I had spoken with the same person earlier in the week, and despite telling her that the number did not belong to him, that it was my cell phone, I didn't know him, and not to call back, she did so anyway. I'll give the supervisor credit, after reading the number back to me, and my verifying once again that yes, the number was correct, but there was no one here by that name, she said the number would be taken off the list. I told her to make sure that it was, because if I received another call after I had told them not to, I would be filing harassment charges.
I wish I had saved the voicemail messages with the name of the company and number, but I deleted them, and the number is coming in as blocked on my caller ID. If they call back, which hopefully they won't, can anyone tell me what I need to do to get them off my back for good and who I can report them to if they continue to call (AG's office, FTC)?
