Dining hall where some stuff is cooked to order.
At the pasta station, the sign says:
"Pasta with meatballs and vegetables: 1/2 order $3.75, whole order $5.75"
So, the guy asks me what vegetables I'd like. I tell him, and he starts them sizzling. I then tell him I'd like a half order of pasta.
He tells me only three vegetables come with the half order, and since I got more, I can't have the half. I'm like "Ok. Didn't know. Whole order is fine."
And here's where the bad service starts-- he just keeps going on about how I should have told him before, and that only three veggies come in a half order, and that he has to stick to the rules, I should have told him before, only three veggies come in a half order... he repeats all those more than three times each. I wasn't protesting getting a whole order, I wasn't saying a damn thing.
I replied "Ok, I'll know for next time" or nodded the first round of this, but when he started repeating himself I started getting annoyed. But I just don't say anything, it's not a big deal.
My friend Yoli comes over, since she was treating me to a glamorous dining hall lunch. She has time to finish her food before mine is done.
Then the guy asks if I want meatballs, which I do. He puts two in the pasta.
He gave the customer before me 5. And he hadn't asked for extra.
I ask why he gave the customer before more than me, and he starts yelling about how he always follows the rules and how I'm trying to get extra vegetables and all this shit and people are starting to stare. Yoli doesn't put up with that kind of crap, and watching a 6'5" 40-yearold argue with a 5'2" 21-yearold...
Then the last touch:
"Do you want it to go?"
"No."
"If you want it to go, you always take a go box from the stack and place it open on the counter, like so. That's how I know you want it to go." WTF?
"Yeah, I don't want it to go."
"Well, how was I to know that?"
"Because I didn't place a plate out and because I said 'No' when you asked me."
"Well, I can't read your mind and I have to follow the rules and (etc.)"
ARGHH. Getting more pasta ==> ok, fine.
Getting screwed over rudely ==> no.
