This past Friday night myself and three of my girlfriends headed out to dinner at Applebee's at about 9:30. Now my friends and I are always polite and try to treat waitresses/waiters with respect. We all know what it's like to deal with snotty customers on a daily basis.
We get there, get seated, get our drink orders in... everything goes fine.
We wait... wait, wait, and wait... finally our drinks come. We then order our food. Personally, I like everything plain. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and asked the waitress if anything like onions, pickles or tomatoes comes on the burger. She said "A pickle comes on the side, but that's it." I say ok.
The two booths next to us then fill up, with a big party of people (probably 10, at least..), they also get the same waitress as us.
We wait, and wait, and wait...
Finally our food comes. What do I find on my burger? Lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. GRRR!! Me being the nice person that I am, I simply scrape them off with my knife and deal with it.
Part way through our meal all of us at our table are in need of a refill on our drinks. We notice the big party next to us is on their refills before their food even gets there.. WTF? One of my friends also decides that she does want dessert, so where's the waitress?
We wait, and wait, and wait ....
She finally comes over. By this time we're all done with our food, and ready to get the hell out of the place. We were tired of waiting. We didn't order drink refills, or any desserts. We just asked for our check.
We wait, and wait, and wait....
Finally she brings over our check. Everyone gets out their money and splits it so no one gets screwed into paying more. Now the question, how much of a tip?? Let's just say that she didn't get much of anything.
Now, I understand that the big party was going to give her a bigger tip than us four college girls. But if she had at least been prompt we would have ordered dessert, that would have made the bill bigger. And, we're usually pretty good about tipping. But thanks to her own ignorance, she got hardly anything.
