There were movies I was supposed to receive last FRIDAY. I haven’t gotten them. I’ve filed reports with Netflix and with USPS.
I get an email from Netflix today that my movies that I was supposed to get on Friday were returned to them.
I called my local post office and told them about it, they got my carrier on the phone, and he tells me he delivered them on Friday.
Uh, no you didn’t. If I had gotten them on Friday, I would have. WATCHED. THEM.
But he was adamant that he had delivered them on Friday.
I PROMISE YOU I did not receive them! When I get my mail, I do not call and complain!
I told him so – and then he starts talking about how my mailbox is too small (Uh, I’ve been subscribing since MAY, I usually get my movies, suddenly my mail won’t fit?), then he starts going off about how it might have been a substitute that was on the route…
WHAT THE HELL?!
EITHER YOU DELIVERED THE MOVIES OR YOU DIDN’T!!!!
DON’T TELL ME THAT YOU FOR SURE DELIVERED THE GODDAMNED MAIL ON FRIDAY THEN TELL ME SOMEBODY ELSE MIGHT HAVE!
I’m taking some time to cool down here before I call the 800 number.
I am trying to be understanding here. I know mail volume is up this time of year, and I’m willing to cut the Post Office some slack, but incompetence and dishonesty just chaps my ass.
Had he told me we returned them because they didn’t fit, sure I’d probably be a smidge pissed, but I would have made sure there was a sign on the box letting them know it fit. If he told me he wasn’t delivering that day, that would have been fine. BUT DON’T CALL ME A LIAR AND THEN FUCK UP YOUR STORY!
I (as well as friends in the building) have been having issues with this Post Office since the beginning. I had been doing my best to be understanding about things, but I am done.
**UPDATE**
I called the 800 number and told them what happened. The gentleman I spoke to was sympathetic. He basically told me that if I continue to have problems that Consumer Affairs will step in and fix the problem.
If you ask me, Consumer Affairs should have gotten involved a while ago. One thing I was told a while ago is that if my name is not on the mailbox, they won't leave my mail. They don't want any liability problems. Totally understandable!
But then why do they continue to leave not only my neighbor's mail out, but former tenants as well? So my shit gets sent back because we think it doesn't fit in the box, but they don't seem to be worried about "liability issues" when leaving a credit card statement for a tenant that moved out 8 months ago on a ledge in the entryway. Whatever, I don't complain.
Not to mention that I get my neighbors' mail in my mailbox. Whatever - didn't complain about that, either.
Oh, and let's not forget the time when I didn't receive an unemployment check because my last name was missing a letter, and "they didn't want liability issues." My last name is 12 letters long. It has been butchered in ways I have never thought possible. I've gotten plenty of junk mail with my last name mixed up, but not the shit I need. I did complain about that.
And I do accept that there is a difference between important documents (IDES) and junk mail. I am just asking for some consistency.
My post office makes me want to light bags of dogshit on fire and throw it at them.
